Volunteer

Many projects happen on a yearly basis, largely (but not exclusively) between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Examples of these seasonal projects are CROP Walk, Thanksgiving Food Drive, The Giving Tree, Operation Christmas Child, Relay for Life, Back-to-School, and the Angel Tree.

Bagel Brigade

The Bagel Brigade picks up bagels at Einstein’s in Gurnee, repackages them by the dozen, and delivers them to the COOL Food Pantry. Teams are needed for pick-up Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and for packaging and delivering Wednesday and Friday morning.

COOL (Christian Outreach of Lutherans)

COOL is a food pantry and transitional housing center in Waukegan. St. Paul’s is one of its six founding churches! Visit the COOL Website

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is active in Lake County. Right now St. Paul’s is participating the third Saturday of each month. Visit the Habitat for Humanity Website

International Mission Experiences

In the last few years, saints of St. Paul’s have traveled to Mexico, Ecuador, Panama, Portugal, Romania and England in order to provide services, make friends, and break down stereotypes.

PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter)

PADS provides emergency shelter from October – May. Opportunities exist to staff a PADS site, to prepare and serve food, and to donate needed supplies. Visit the PADS Website

A team is being formed to research a possible Parish Nurse Ministry.
